Yes - There *Will* Be A Club Pocket PC - Boston Meeting Wednesday, July 18th#
Post By Don Sorcinelli

Between the frequent travel and the large work load, things have been a bit stretched for me as of late. Fortunately, a cluttered calendar is not preventing me from making the following statement -

The next meeting of Club Pocket PC - Boston will be held on Wednesday, July 18th starting at 6:30 PM at the Microsoft offices in Waltham, MA (201 Jones Road, 6th floor). Our next meeting will be dedicated to trying to catch up on all of the latest goings on in mobility. From Windows Mobile 6 to the iPhone, from new applications to new products, we have a lot to discuss.

We also will have a lot (and I do mean a lot) of giveaways for this meeting, really making this a must-attend event.

See you there!

I just discovered this group, having just bought my first PPC (AT&T 8525).
Is there a mailing list?
A way to register for the site?

When is the next meeting? The website say the next meeting is in three days ago.
Are they free?

Thanks.

David,

Welcome to the Windows Mobile world! The 8525 is a very nice device; I have a number of friends and co-workers who use it (some religiously) ;-)

The website does not require registration. Feel free to "chime in" at any time (as you have done in this post). We do not have a mailing list, but you can susbribe to our RSS feed (located on the home page).

Our next meeting is planned for Wednesday, August the 15th starting at 6:15 PM at the Microsoft offices in Waltham, MA (201 Jones Road, 6th Floor). We normally have our meetings at this time every 3rd Wednesday of the month. BTW - I am updating the home page to reflect the next meeting as soon as I finish posting this comment :-D

Here is a thought: how about having the meeting on
the south shore?

While and interesting thought (as well as one that has been discussed), there are a couple of factors that have kept us in Waltham for the past 6 years:

1) We have always catered to a very large geographical audience. Our attendees come from around the area including Metro Boston, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and even Connecticut. While Waltham may at times seem inconvenient from an individual's perspective, the location and access (right off of Route 128) has been able to serve as a neutral ground.
2) The meeting facilities at the Microsoft offices are well suited for meetings and presentations, and have been gratiously provided all of these years at no cost. Moving to another location would require either donation of space or the incurring of a monthly cost. For 6 years, we have been able to provide meeting attendance, the BostonPocketPC.com web site and lots of giveaways at no cost to our members. I say that with a great deal of thanks to all of those people who have made that possible, as well as with a bit of pride (knowing full well that for many user groups this is simply not the case). While always open to suggestions, I have always believed that any solution that might change this would be a change I would hate to see happen.

Having said all of this, I am always open to the idea of a "special meeting" outside of our standard location. As a matter of fact, we have had a few casual meetups (most notably during the holiday season) that have been rather enjoyable. If anyone is ever interested in assisting in organizing a meeting of this nature, please feel free in contacting me.
